# Set up authorization

Before you can use this API, you need to [Create authentication credentials](https://techdocs.akamai.com/developer/docs/set-up-authentication-credentials).

# Form the URL

<!-- shell@2 -->
<!-- node@11 -->
<!-- python@14 -->

Prepare the URL to send your POST request.

# Form a request body

<!-- shell@5-18 -->
<!-- node@18-31 -->
<!-- python@19-31 -->

For each domain, specify the domain name and the validation scope, either `HOST`, `WILDCARD` or `DOMAIN`. Read more about [validation scopes](https://techdocs.akamai.com/domain-validation/reference/api-workflow). Optionally, specify your preferred [validation method](https://techdocs.akamai.com/domain-validation/docs/validation-methods).

# Call the API

<!-- shell@1-100 -->
<!-- node@1-100 -->
<!-- python@1-100 -->

Call POST on the request URL.

# Review the response

The response returns the `200` status and lists the requested domains with their current validation status.
