Set the number of visitors admitted to the origin
After you create the policy, you can set the number of visitors admitted to the origin every second.
The Number of visitors per second field defines how many new visitors per second can access the origin. If the number of visitors per second exceeds the value, the new visitors are sent to the waiting room. Default is 1000 visitors/second, minimum is 10/second and maximum is 10,000,000/second.
The Maximum queue length field indicates the maximum number of visitors allowed in the waiting room at one time. This field is provided for information and is not editable. To change your waiting room size, contact your account team.
Due to latency, some initial visitors may enter the waiting room (for up to 5 seconds), even when the Number of visitors per second value has not been exceeded.
How to change the number of visitors allowed to enter the origin
If you need to change the Number of visitors per second, create a new version of the policy and activate it. If you are changing the Number of visitors per second during an event, and already have visitors in the waiting room from the previously activated policy, increasing the Number of visitors per second decreases the visitors time in the waiting room. If you decrease the Number of visitors per second this increases the visitors time in the waiting room. In either case, the new wait time is displayed to the visitor.
