Feb 2, 2026 - App & API Protector Hybrid Reverse Proxy VM now generally available

This release introduces a new Protector (the application engine) version of App & API Protector Hybrid and marks the general availability of the reverse proxy-based deployment model.

What’s new:

  • Protector version: v1.3.0. This release includes performance optimizations and internal improvements.
  • Reverse proxy-based deployment is now generally available. Previously available as a beta deployment option, the App & API Protector Hybrid VM is now fully supported for production use.
  • Ansible-based automation for registering tokens and SSL/TLS certificates when deploying Protector on VMware ESXi. Registration tokens and SSL/TLS certificates for VMware ESXi deployments can now be uploaded and updated using Ansible provisioning scripts, enabling automated registration with Akamai services.
  • Updated rate limiting behavior for DoS detection. Violating clients are now added to the penalty box when the rate limiting action is set to either alert or deny, ensuring consistent enforcement across actions.
