Before you begin

Adding an ICP holding entity is the first step in provisioning your hostname to make it active on the China CDN. Follow the steps in Open the Dashboard to Open China CDN Manager to the ICP holding entities tab.

An ICP holding entity is a locally-registered Chinese company that you nominate to hold a domain for you as a proxy. This allows you to apply for an ICP number. Registering your license involves proving to the government that your intentions are pure, that your site is worthy of hosting, and that you can operate within the boundaries of Chinese law.

How to

1. Click the + sign next to the ICP holding entities section to add a holding entity, or click Edit or Provide Required Details to edit it.

   The Add ICP holding entity screen appears. You must enter all the information in the Required for provisioning on ​Akamai​ China CDN section in order to provision a hostname. You do not need to enter any information in the fields under Optional to either save or provision a hostname. If a field is labeled Required for save, you must enter information in it to click Save. You may want to enter some of the information, save it, and come back later to complete it.

2. Enter or edit the name of your holding entity in the Organization name field.

   For example, if your organization name is Treehouse Building, your holding entity name might be Treehouse Building China. If you select an ICP holding entity and a message appears saying that you have limited access to this entity, you do not have view and edit access to the entity. You can use the entity in ICP numbers, but you cannot modify it. If you need to modify it, contact your account administrator.

3. Select your business classification in the Business classification field.

4. Select the business ID type in the Business ID type field.

   This must belong to the legal representative and is issued by the Chinese government.

5. Enter the business ID value in the Business ID value field.

   This must belong to the legal representative and is issued by the Chinese government.

6. Enter the name of your China technical contact in the China technical contact field.

   The legal representative must work and live in China.

7. Enter the phone number of your China technical contact in the China technical contact phone field.

8. Optionally, add comments that give any additional information about the holding entity.

   Additional fields

   Additional fields are now required in order to comply with Chinese government regulations. See Additional information required for ICP holding entity for more information on this additional required information.

   After being created, some ID-type fields will be viewed in a masked format displaying only their last four characters, while the remaining part will be disguised by asterisks.

9. Click Save.

Additional information required for ICP holding entity

To comply with Chinese government regulations, you must provide additional information with your ICP Holding Entity in order to provision your hostname on the China CDN.

Before you begin

In order to provide the additional information that is required, you must either edit an existing ICP holding entity or provide the required information while adding a new ICP holding entity. See Add or edit an ICP holding entity for more information.

The following is the additional required information:

• Business office address. The business office address in China.

The Business office address field must be populated with Chinese characters.

• China technical contact email address. The email address of your technical contact in China.

• China technical contact ID. The government issued ID number of your technical contact in China.

  • Chinese citizen: the ID number of their China Mainland Resident Identity Card.

  • Resident of Taiwan: the ID number of their Mainland Travel Permit also known as the Taiwan Compatriot Permit.

  • Resident of Hong Kong, Macau, or other: their passport number.

Masked ID number

Once the ID number is provided and you go to the View/Edit mode, you will no longer be able to see the full ID. The ID number is presented in a masked format displaying only its last four characters, while the remaining part is disguised by asterisks.

How to

1. In the China CDN Manager application, access the list of ICP holding entities on the ICP Holding Entity tab.

2. Select an ICP holding entity from the list.

3. Click Provide required details.

4. Complete the required fields.

5. Click Save.

Next, add an ICP number. For more information on adding an ICP number, see Add or edit an ICP number.

You can provision a hostname after you enter all of the information in the Required for provisioning sections for your ICP holding entity, ICP number, and property hostname. At that time you can go to Start provisioning to start the provisioning process. To delete an ICP holding entity, choose Delete from the More () menu.
